PBB2 Update: Wendy Valdez, Maxim covergirl

Maxim Philippines must really be desperate to dislodge FHM from the top of the list of best men’s magazines. Why? Because they just wrapped up the pictorial for the August 2007 cover with none other than our favorite Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 housemate Wendy Valdez.

Ehem. Now that I’ve got that bias off my chest … let’s focus on the pros and cons of having Wendy as the covergirl.

Advantage: Wendy is beautiful and sexy, making selling the magazine a breeze.

Disadvantage: Wendy’s, uhmm, scars and other skin problems show quite clearly. Without the help of Photoshop, I don’t see how they’d make her beauty stand out. Well, they’ve done it before, with Angelica Panganiban, I don’t see any reason why they can’t do it again.

Advantage: Wendy’s popularity definitely gives ABS-CBN Publishing and Maxim Philippines an edge. Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 is, after all, an ABS-CBN show. Why not cash in on the “brand building” they’ve invested on during the show’s three-month run?

Disadvantage: Wendy’s notoriety definitely throws a spanner into the works, as even flesh-ogling males have a hard time understanding the housemate’s antics while inside the Big Brother house.

Darn! I’ve run out of witty remarks. Can you contribute a few? No bashing please—we’ve had enough of those already. Just witty, factual remarks based on your observations.

Movies: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

I’ve just finished watching the making of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on HBO, and all I can say is, “Jolly good show!” Compared to previous Harry Potter films, this one takes the cake. Well, considering they had more than five years of practice … hehe.

The only thing that sucks is that I probably won’t be able to watch it. Mama Joyce and I are still in Leyte and Dada Joel is in Manila. We hate watching movies solo. We’d rather be together, especially for films as monumental as Harry Potter. We already missed the Transformers. 😦

In the meantime, I’ll content myself with watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’s equally awesome trailer. Let’s take a peek, shall we?

PBB2: Housemates rock to ‘Sexy Back’ in Thanksgiving Party

Found this on YouTube. The video shows some of the Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 housemates bathed in red light, dancing Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake at the show’s Thanksgiving Party.

It’s a pity, though, that fans of the show were not invited to any party, thanksgiving or otherwise, hosted by the housemates. That would have been a blast.

This particular party, the one shown in the video, wasn’t even aired—at least I think it wasn’t aired since no one I know had watched it before seeing it on YouTube.

Shameless Plug: Watch, not read, Hinge Inquirer Publication titles

HIP on YouTube

It’s really amazing what a select group of individuals can achieve. Take, for instance, Hinge Inquirer Publications, the company my dad works for. The people behind the magazines the company publishes push their skills to the limits and come out with quality niche and custom publications for readers from all walks of life.

In the past few months, they’ve upped the ante by coming out with quality content not only in the magazines but also on blogs to cater to an ever-growing population of HIP readers. What better is the fact that they use popular new media to serve their readers better. Want an example? Hie on over to HIP’s channel on YouTube and discover why the company is soaring to new heights. 🙂

A little lazy to check it out? Here’s a sampler, a video produced by HIP’s Mobile Philippines featuring the ravishing Ornusa Cadness.

Movies: Another Transformers trailer

Although it’s more of a music video if you ask me. And maybe it is. According to the video buff who posted the trailer on YouTube, it came from the MTV Movie (Music?) Awards. Well, in my eyes, it’s new, and deserves the space I give it. Besides, everybody in my family, and that includes Mama Joyce, are raring to run to the theater to watch this monumental film. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.

MMORPG: Perfect World installation frustrates Dada Joel

Poor Dada Joel. He spent the better half of the night trying to figure out what’s wrong with the Perfect World client he installed in the computer in Balanga, Bataan. “To think that the installer came from Level Up! Games …” was all he could say.

After eliminating all the usual suspects, dad surmised that the problem was in the connection, that the IP (Internet protocol, a bunch of numbers usually assigned by an Internet service provider for connections) address he was using for the Smart Bro account was in the ban list of Level Up! Or something like that. I couldn’t understand what Dada Joel was trying to say because of all the invectives (well, not really invectives but expressions) spewing out of his mouth.

Anyway, I’ll try to update this post with a screenshot so you’ll know what the hell I’m talking about. In the meantime, I’ll leave you with a great video about the game I found on, wherelse, YouTube. 😛

Movies: New Transformers trailer out

Here’s the new trailer of the Transformers movie by Michael Bay. All I can say at this point is “Wow!” But we have to see the entire film, which will start showing on July 4 worldwide, before making any judgment. Hopefully, it will not disappoint as much as Spiderman 3. I wish it will be as successful as the 80s cartoon series and the animated movie that inspired an entire generation.

It’s good to see familiar faces in the film, though. Shia LaBeouf is definitely a welcome sight. After starring in great films like Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and Constantine, it was only a matter of time before his star would shine brighter. As seen in the trailer, Shia gives life to Sam “Spike” Witwicky, the main “human” protagonist. The only question is (dad’s question, that is), “Where’s Carly?”

Josh Duhamel is also a plus for the movie. He has gained quite a following, thanks to his role as the sometimes-bumbling Danny in the hit television series Las Vegas. But I think I like him better in Vegas than dressed in a military uniform in Transformers. 😛

Finally, we have my dad, uhmmm, I mean, Angelina Jolie’s dad, Jon Voight, in the film. I just can’t figure out yet what role he plays. I guess I’ll have to watch the movie, then. 🙂
