Politics: Jueteng still alive in Bataan?

My dad just came from the town center of Balanga, Bataan, and told us the most amazing news—jueteng, it appears, is alive and kicking.

He was buying medicine and vitamins at his favorite drugstore when a man strode up beside him—not to offer my dad his “service” but also to buy medicine. He did this by flashing  to the pharmacist something written down on a booklet (well, more like dozens of small paper pieces bound by rubber band).

It turned out the man was a kubrador, or a bet collector. Although my dad has nothing against jueteng, he doesn’t like it when politicians and police officers lie through their teeth and make it appear that the illegal numbers game is already six feet under.

Hmmm, maybe some politicians running for seats need more funds for their campaigns.
